The Meeting Day
Her name was Nichole. She was supposed to be studying for an upcoming exam for nursing school. His name was Ryan. He was tediously waiting for his iPhone to be repaired at the Apple store and thought reading a newspaper would satisfy his boredom. Starbucks was a busy, stinky mess. A creepy, old man snickered at every female walking by. Every table was taken when Nichole arrived, and she was hesitant about sharing a table with a stranger but gathered every bit of courage to inquire about the open seat at Ryan's table. Without a second thought, he gladly accommodated her.
Despite Nichole's intentions to focus on school and her imminent exam, there were many topics of discussion instead. The two conversed about what they were doing in Starbucks, why both were so far away from home, and ultimately struck up a conversation about life and how life wasn't exactly going the way they had planned. Little did they realize that happiness was literally sitting right in front of them.
The meeting transformed to an instant friendship. The two walked across the street together after realizing they parked in the same parking garage. They swapped phone numbers and continued talking via text message after parting ways at the Plaza in Kansas City, Missouri.
The First Date
Ryan boldly asked Nichole on a date only a few days after their initial meeting, to which she quickly agreed. The couple went to Ignite Wood Fire Grille where magical words were spoken, glances of appeal were snuck with shy smiles, and the first hug happened. So much was exchanged that night between the two as they "ignited" their relationship ultimately leading to...
The "Yes" Day
Ryan planned a busy morning adventure in the Seattle area for the two, which consisted of a ferry ride across the Puget Sound and kayaking on Lake Union. The couple then met up with Ryan's parents for fish tacos at Agua Verde Café, followed by a trip to the Space Needle to check out the newly renovated glass floor at 500-feet above the Seattle Center.
Ryan really wanted to get that amazing photo—you know, the one where you can get people AND the city skyline all in focus with equal lighting? It was harder than expected, and he was showing a bit of frustration. Ryan eventually found the lighting he envisioned and positioned his mother with the iPhone camera ready for the two to get their picture taken.
After a couple posed photos, Nichole was done being in front of the camera, but Ryan said, "just one more" and got down on one knee pulling out a beautiful rose gold diamond ring. "No... stop it" were the words spoken by Nichole in utter disbelief. She was taken entirely by surprise, not knowing the moment had arrived. As the initial shock wore off, there was a giant smile, tears, a nod and a kiss which answered the question. The beginning of the rest of their lives was August 28, 2018 at exactly 2:00 PM.
